How to Play

Gulam Chor

also known as Maid

3+ players · one Jack removed unseen (51 cards)

Goal

3 or more players, one Jack removed unseen before dealing (51 cards). This is a single, unscored round — whoever's left holding the lone, un-partnered Jack at the end loses.

Setup

The 51-card pool is dealt out one card at a time. Any pairs (two cards of the same rank) you're dealt are automatically set aside face-up right away, before play begins.

The Blind Draw

On your turn, you draw one card completely at random from the current offerer's hand — you don't get to choose which one, and neither do they. If it completes a pair with a card you're already holding, that pair is discarded immediately. Either way, your hand is now offered to the next player, and so on around the table.

Losing

Since one Jack was removed at setup, exactly one Jack can never find a partner. Every other rank always pairs off completely, so the game always ends with exactly one player holding exactly one card — the lone Jack.
