How to Play

Not at Home

also known as Go Fish

2–6 players · a standard 52-card deck

Goal

2–6 players, a standard 52-card deck. Whoever accumulates all 13 books (4-of-a-kind sets) is the sole winner — everyone else loses. You may know this game by its more common name, Go Fish — same rules, different call.

Dealing

Everyone is dealt 7 cards (2–3 players) or 5 cards (4–6 players). Any natural books you're dealt are set aside automatically before play begins. The rest of the deck becomes the pond.

Asking

On your turn, ask one opponent for a rank you already hold at least one of. If they have any, they must hand over ALL of that rank — and you go again. If they have none, they're “not at home” — you draw from the pond instead.

Not at Home

Draw the top card of the pond. If it matches the rank you asked for, you go again. Otherwise, your turn ends. If the pond is empty, your turn ends immediately with no draw.

Books & Winning

Collecting all 4 cards of a rank automatically lays it down as a completed book. The game doesn't stop once all 13 books have been claimed across the table — book ownership is public, so from that point on you ask each other for whole sets (instead of individual cards) until one player accumulates all 13. That player is the sole winner; everyone else loses.
